traceless – pioneers for sustainable biomaterials
traceless is an innovative company in the circular economy and offers a natural alternative to plastic and bioplastics. With their patented process technology, they process plant residues from the agricultural industry into biocompatible biomaterials that are plastic-free, climate-friendly and compostable. traceless® materials are competitive with conventional plastics and bioplastics, have been developed for the processing of plastics and can be further processed into flexible films, hard materials or coatings – and contain only natural substances.
traceless is committed to combating global plastic pollution and paving the way for a net-zero-based circular economy. The production facility, which is currently under construction, is expected to start production in Hamburg in autumn 2025.
The company recently raised EUR 36.6 million in a successful financing round and is supported by the EU and the BMUV, among others. traceless has been honoured with numerous awards, including the German Start-up Award and the German Sustainability Award.
My collaboration with traceless
As a consultant for traceless, I have been supporting the company for almost three years and helping it to develop the animal feed that is a co-product of the production of traceless® materials. This high-quality protein feed is a completely new feed material.
I support the motivated team in feed legislation issues, in the development of the HACCP concept and in classic product management – from sales to the planning of feeding trials.
The start of production in the year 2025 represents an important step in the realisation of sustainability – also in the animal feed industry – and I am pleased to contribute to this development as a partner.

The combination of in-vitro screening and targeted feeding trials enables efficient, scientifically sound and at the same time ethically responsible product development.
Through the targeted use of in-vitro models, we can:
✔ reduce animal testing by only further testing the most promising active ingredients
✔ evaluate toxicological and nutritional properties at an early stage before extensive feeding studies are necessary
✔ minimise time-consuming and cost-intensive animal testing by conducting preliminary studies in the laboratory
Where animal testing is necessary, we rely on optimised study designs to minimise the use of laboratory animals and achieve maximum scientific significance with minimum effort.
